Interesting facts about bird keeping.
Is there a relationship between this hoby and the high mortality due to H5NI virus (bird flu) in Indonesia?
Could you provide any refernces?
TQ.

I don't have any reference about that. As far as I'm concerned, this hobby has no serious impact to the avian (not bird) flu in Indonesia.
The high mortality due to avian flu in Indonesia is related with the high distribution of chicken and hen from the poultry with insufficient control from the government to stop the spreading of the disease.
There is still no evidence that this virus is spread out by the song birds.

As Salaamu Alaikum ! I am happy to see Serinus canaria are very popular in Indonesia . Sad that the wild birds are declining due to over hunting & lack of demestic breeding efforts . I am from the Philippines & my 5 year old American singer canary makes me very happy when he sings . Thank you for your efforts . Thanks Allah for birds ! Ramadan Mubarak ...
